Jason Mieras’ Customer Complaint at American Portfolios:

According to FINRA BrokerCheck, Jason Lawrence Mieras is currently registered as a broker/investment advisor with American Portfolios in Lake Como, NJ. Mieras has been hit with a pending customer complaint which alleges $250,000 in damages due to unsuitable recommendations to invest in an individual equity recommendation that resulted in market loss and a decline in account value.

Mieras was previously named in a customer complaint that was settled in favor of the investor. The complaint was settled for $600,000 and alleged premium payments were not made for an enhanced death benefit.

How Can Investors Recover Their Losses?

Brokers and financial advisors must consider an investment’s risk, ensure that they do not misrepresent material facts, and/or overconcentrate the customer’s portfolio in unsuitable investments. Further, financial professionals and their firms cannot disregard a customer’s risk-tolerance when making unsuitable investment recommendations.

The violations discussed above each provide a basis for liability in a FINRA arbitration claim. FINRA arbitration is a more cost-effective process for investors, often occurring with increased speed and efficiency over a court proceeding.
