Austin Dutton: 28 Customer Complaints

According to FINRA BrokerCheck, Austin Richard Dutton is currently facing two pending customer complaints, both of which allege causes of action including a Breach of Fiduciary Duty, Negligence, and Failure to Supervise. 

Dutton’s most recent complaint alleged investor damages of $130,000, while the second alleged damages of $100,000. Dutton’s 24 settled customer complaints have been collectively settled in favor of the investors in the amount of $703,856. 

In 2017, Dutton was fined $200,000 by the state of Pennsylvania for unsuitable investment recommendations. On March 29, 2021, FINRA made a preliminary determination to recommend that disciplinary action be brought against Austin Dutton due to allegations that he violated FINRA Rule 2111 (Suitability) and 2010, as well as FINRA Rule 4511 (General Requirements). 

In a recent FINRA arbitration Award, Austin Richard Dutton was ordered to pay a customer $43,644.69 in compensatory damages. The customer previously filed a complaint against Dutton, Primex, and American Trust Investment Services Inc., which alleged securities violations related to recommendations to invest in GWG L bonds.
