National investment loss law firm KlaymanToskes continues its investigation into former financial advisor Rajesh Markan (CRD# 4553309), who was previously affiliated with Merrill Lynch and Hilltop Securities. The law firm has filed multiple FINRA arbitration claims (Claim no. 24-02147, Claim no. 24-02148, Claim no. 24-02289) on behalf of affected investors, seeking to recover damages incurred through Markan’s alleged fraudulent activities involving investments purportedly linked to Bain Capital.
As of October 1, 2024, Rajesh Markan has been permanently barred by FINRA from acting as a broker. This action follows his failure to cooperate with FINRA’s investigation stemming from a Form U5 filed by Hilltop Securities, which disclosed that Markan was under internal review for fraud or wrongful taking of property, and violations of investment-related statutes and regulations.
Investors who entrusted their funds to Markan have reported substantial losses, with three pending customer complaints alleging a total of $820,000 in damages. KlaymanToskes has filed three additional customer complaints (Claim no. 24-02147, Claim no. 24-02148, Claim no. 24-02289), alleging collective damages of $2,700,000. These clients were under the impression that their money was safely invested in Bain Capital and similar entities by Markan, only to later find out about the alleged misappropriation of their funds.
Clients of Rajesh Markan allege that he falsely represented private equity investments in Bain Capital as secure and high-return investments. However, KlaymanToskes’ investigation has uncovered that the investors’ funds purportedly directed towards these investments were instead allegedly misappropriated by Markan. Rajesh Markan allegedly provided the investors with fabricated statements that misrepresented the status and performance of their investments, leading them to believe their funds were growing in Bain Capital when, in reality, they were not invested there at all.
The investors represented by KlaymanToskes have filed FINRA arbitration claims seeking to recover substantial losses, collectively totaling $2.7 million. These arbitration cases seek not only the recovery of the customers’ original investments, but also compensation for lost appreciation that would have accrued had the funds been properly invested.
