Financial Advisor Sal Bonetti Faces Investor Complaint

Sal Bonetti, a financial advisor from Windham, Maine, is facing a complaint from an investor. Records from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) show that Bonetti works as a broker with Purshe Kaplan Sterling and as an investment advisor with Insight Folios. The complaint, filed in August 2024, claims that Bonetti advised a conservative investor to buy risky stocks. This advice allegedly led to losses of $130,000.

Bonetti’s BrokerCheck report also discloses past regulatory issues. In 2016, Bonetti was suspended from acting as a broker by FINRA due to allegations that he altered his member firm’s records of the telephone numbers of firm customers owning securities accounts that he serviced, and that his actions could have prevented or delayed competing registered representatives at the firm from being able to contact these customers. The findings stated that by altering the telephone numbers of the firm’s customers, Bonetti caused the firm’s books and records to be inaccurate, and he acted without the authorization of the affected customers or the firm.

In 2017, Bonetti faced another regulatory action, initiated by the Office of Insurance and Safely Fire Commissioner State of Georgia, whereby he was placed on probationary status for twelve (12) months starting November 7, 2017.
