According to FINRA BrokerCheck, broker Mark Katz has been involved in several customer complaints which alleged unsuitable investment recommendations and unauthorized trading. A recent complaint alleged $358,162 in damages due to alleged transactions in fixed income securities that were not authorized and inappropriate for the investor. The complaint was settled in favor of the customer for $172,373. A second investor complaint alleged $50,000 in investor damages due to unsuitable recommendations, poor performance, fiduciary violations, and misrepresentation, and was settled in favor of the investor for $75,000.

Former Western Broker Mark Katz Involved in Customer Complaints

Financial advisor Mark Katz, formerly of Western International Securities and Hilltop Securities, has been involved in numerous customer disputes, according to Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”) records. Katz has been involved in at least four customer complaints, two of which have been settled in favor of the investors. A complaint filed in February 2024 alleged that transactions in fixed income securities were not authorized and inappropriate, which created losses in the investor’s accounts. The complaint was settled in favor of the customer for $172,373. A second complaint filed in 2020 alleged unsuitable recommendations to invest in Non-traded REIT and MLP investments, poor performance, fiduciary violation, and misrepresentation. The complaint was settled in favor of the investor for $75,000.

Katz is currently registered with Aegis Capital Corp. in New York, NY. Broker Mark Katz was previously registered with Western International Securities from July 2019 to January 2025, and with Hilltop Securities from 2008 to June 2019.
