According to FINRA BrokerCheck, broker Marat Likhtenstein was barred from the securities industry due to his refusal to provide documents and information and to appear for on-the-record testimony in connection to an investigation of undisclosed personal loan transactions with a client.

Marat Likhtenstein has been barred from working in the securities industry by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). This decision reportedly came after Likhtenstein refused to provide documents, information, and testimony requested by FINRA, in connection with the regulator’s investigation into comments made on a Form U5 filing by his member firm. FINRA’s investigation found that Likhtenstein was terminated from Osaic Wealth, Inc. for not telling his firm about personal loan deals with a client.
FINRA Rule 3240 says that stockbrokers can only borrow or lend money to a customer if their firm has a policy that allows it. Most brokerage firms do not allow these practices. Between 2018 and 2021, FINRA reported about 15 cases each year related to customer loan violations, with brokers usually being the ones who borrowed the money. The loan amounts in these cases ranged from $1,800 to $1.35 million.
