Financial advisor Elan Sanker has been barred from acting as a broker by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”) following allegations that he failed to appear for on-the-record testimony requested by FINRA during its investigation into FINRA’s review of a Form U5 submitted by his member firm. According to FINRA’s findings, Sanker was registered with Merrill Lynch from November 2018 until June 22, 2023, when the firm filed a Uniform Termination Notice for Securities Industry Registration (Form U5) terminating Sanker’s registration. The Form U5 disclosed that Sanker had been discharged for “[c]onduct including entering into a financial arrangement with a client; failure to disclose an outside business activity and using a personal device for business purposes.”
