Safra Securities broker Alicia Hinjosa, formerly of Merrill Lynch, is currently involved in a customer dispute, according to Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”) records. The complaint alleges $1,800,000 in damages due to “[REDACTED], a former limited power of attorney for an existing client of Safra Securities, and Psalms Creative LLC (“Psalms”), an entity which [REDACTED] purportedly controls, filed a civil litigation in which Ms. Hinojosa is named as one of three defendants. The co-Defendants are Safra Securities LLC and Safra National Bank. The complaint alleges causes of action for purported tortious interference with a contractual relationship and prospective economic advantage, defamation, and vicarious liability. The complaint alleges that [REDACTED] exercised discretion over the client’s account from April 2024 to mid-November 2024 at which time the client independently chose to terminate the POA. The complaint alleges that client account reporting of the results of [REDACTED] investments, and certain statements alleged to have been made by Ms. Hinojosa regarding [REDACTED] investments, were defamatory and led to the termination of the POA. As stated above, [REDACTED] was not a client of Safra Securities or Safra National Bank, and no Safra entity had or has a relationship with [REDACTED].”
The broker’s comment listed on the disclosure states: “Ms. Hinojosa, Safra Securities and Safra National Bank strongly deny the allegations in the complaint. The evidence will reveal that the allegations are false and that the client’s decision to terminate the POA was not influenced by the alleged actions of Safra Securities, Safra National Bank or Ms. Hinojosa. Furthermore, the client has denied that any of the alleged conduct by Safra or Ms. Hinojosa caused him to take any actions and the decision to terminate the POA was an independent decision.”
A second customer complaint disclosed on Hinjosa’s Brokercheck report, filed in October 2023, alleged that the Representative, while employed by Merrill Lynch, placed unauthorized trades between September 2020 and February 2021 without the customer’s consent. The complaint was denied by Merrill Lynch. The broker’s comment for the disclosure states: “Ms. Hinojosa denies the allegation, asserting that she is unaware of any unauthorized transactions in the client’s account, and denies having misrepresented any risks or material information related to the transactions.”
