According to FINRA BrokerCheck, broker Matthew Turner of Westpark Capital has been suspended by FINRA in connection with allegations of trading in customer accounts, including those of seniors, that was excessive, unsuitable and not in the best interest of the customers. Turner allegedly violated the SEC’s Regulation BI, by exercising discretionary authority to effect 148 trades in four customers’ accounts without obtaining written authorization from the customers and without his firm having accepted the accounts as discretionary.

Financial advisor Matthew Turner, associated with Westpark Capital, has been suspended from acting as a broker by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”). FINRA’s investigation found that Turner allegedly recommended trading in accounts held by three customers that was excessive, unsuitable, and not in their best interest. In addition, Turner exercised discretionary authority to effect 148 trades in four customers’ accounts without obtaining written authorization from the customers to exercise discretion and without his firm having accepted the accounts as discretionary. Turner consented to sanctions of being suspended from association with any FINRA member in all capacities for five months, and to pay restitution of $27,415.75 plus interest.
