National investment loss lawyers KlaymanToskes is investigating broker Steven Graham (CRD# 1977736) of Western International Securities, following the filing of a customer complaint alleging $100,000 in investor damages due to misrepresentation and negligence. Steven Graham is also currently facing a civil complaint initiated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”).
The SEC filed a Complaint against Western International Securities and five of its registered representatives, including broker Steven Graham, on June 16, 2022 for violating Regulation Best Interest when they unsuitably recommended GWG L Bonds to customers. From July 2020 through April 2021, Western International Securities and its representatives purportedly sold $13.3 million of L Bonds to its customers, many of whom had moderate risk tolerances.
GWG L bonds were marketed by many brokerage firms and financial advisors as safe and low-risk investments that were instead illiquid, high-risk, and speculative. In April 2022, GWG Holdings, Inc. filed for bankruptcy, suspending their monthly dividends and leaving investors without access to their principal. In August 2023, the GWG L Bonds were canceled, and investors were issued “Interests” in the Wind Down Trust. The value of the Interests and timeline for the bankruptcy’s resolution are still uncertain.
