National investment loss lawyers KlaymanToskes is investigating broker Mary Ann Best (CRD# 4389355) of Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. (AllianceBernstein, L.P.) after a customer complaint was filed with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”), alleging $489,703 in damages due to unsuitable recommendations to invest in Alternative Investments. The complaint was settled in favor of the investor for $400,000.
According to FINRA BrokerCheck, broker Mary Ann Best is currently registered as a broker and investment advisor with Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. (AllianceBernstein, L.P.) in Washington, D.C.
The broker’s comment listed on the complaint states: “The firm and the registered representative deny the allegations and believe they are without merit. Customer chose to invest in the product at issue after the risk of loss was fully disclosed and after the customer independently determined that the product was an appropriate investment. In effect, the customer is expecting the registered representative and the firm to guarantee the investment’s performance. By entering into a settlement with the customer, the firm and the registered representative admit no liability whatsoever and deny any and all liabilities claimed by the customer.”
