National investment loss lawyers KlaymanToskes is investigating UBS and financial advisors who unsuitably recommended investments in UBS’s Range Target Profit Forwards (RTPFs) to their customers. Many investors have suffered severe, unexpected losses, leading UBS to make “goodwill” payments to over 100 clients and to scale back sales of these instruments.

If your financial advisor failed to adequately explain the risks associated with the UBS RTPFs, or made an unsuitable recommendation based on your investment profile, you may be entitled to a financial recovery through FINRA arbitration.

What are UBS Range Target Profit Forwards?

The UBS Range Target Profit Forwards (RTPFs) were often marketed as a way to generate modest returns in a low-interest environment. In reality, the RTPFs are highly complex, leveraged foreign-exchange derivatives that offered limited potential gains but exposed investors to substantial losses when currency values—most notably the Swiss franc—moved outside predetermined ranges.

In April 2025, President Trump’s tariff announcement made the dollar move sharply, causing investors to exchange currencies at significantly unfavorable rates and leaving them with significant losses.

KlaymanToskes’ investigation has found that many clients were not adequately warned about the risks associated with UBS RTPFs, including their complexity and high-risk nature.

If you suffered losses in UBS RTPFs, or any other investments due to unsuitable recommendations by your brokerage firm or financial advisor, contact securities attorney Steven D. What are the risks of investing in UBS Range Target Profit Forwards?

RTPFs offer relatively small potential, while the potential downside can be severe. Sudden market volatility, such as the sharp currency swings following recent global economic and political developments, has caused devastating losses for many UBS clients.

UBS has acknowledged the impact by making “goodwill” payments to over 100 affected investors and has since scaled back the sale of these products to only the most sophisticated clients.

If you suffered losses in UBS Range Target Profit Forwards (RTPFs), you may have grounds to pursue a recovery through FINRA arbitration. Contact our team of experienced securities lawyers today to discuss your legal options at (888) 997-9956.

Can I Recover My Losses in UBS RTPFs?

Investment firms may be held liable for any losses incurred by their customers in the event of unsuitable investment recommendations, misrepresentations or omissions of material facts, and/or an overconcentration of the customer’s portfolio in one particular investment, class, or market sector, as well as failure to conduct adequate due diligence on investment offerings recommended by the firm and failing to act in the best interest of the customer.

UBS Range Target Profit Forwards (RTPFs) Investment Losses

Potential conflicts of interest may arise when issuers incentivize brokers/investment advisors with substantial commissions to promote their financial products.

According to an article by the Financial Times, these products had “lucrative fees”.

A representative that recommends investments for the purpose of being compensated through increased commissions, and enriches themselves rather than benefiting the client, is violating securities laws.

Can I File a Lawsuit to Recover Losses?

To recover investment losses, you do not go through the traditional court system with a lawsuit. The only remedy is through a FINRA arbitration, a specific process designed for these types of disputes. This process involves presenting your case to a panel set by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), not a courtroom. This approach is streamlined and focused on investment disputes, making it a suitable and effective way for investors to seek compensation for losses caused by financial advisors or brokerage firms.

What is a FINRA Arbitration Claim?

FINRA (the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) is a self-regulatory organization that oversees brokers and brokerages. In the event of a dispute between an investor and their financial advisor, investors can choose to file a FINRA arbitration claim. FINRA is overseen by the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”).

The arbitration process is designed to be much faster than the court system and allows both parties to present their case before a panel of arbitrators. The arbitrators will then decide how to resolve the dispute, including ordering the advisor to pay damages for any losses suffered by the investor.

If you suffered RTPFs losses or other investment losses, you are encouraged to contact attorney Steven D. Toskes, at 888-997-9956 or by email at investigations@klaymantoskes.com to discuss recovery options. We do not collect attorney’s fees unless we are able to obtain a financial recovery for you.
