According to FINRA BrokerCheck, broker Ryan Murphy, formerly of Truist Investment Services, is currently involved in several pending customer complaints. Murphy was permanently barred by FINRA in August 2024 after he refused to provide documents and information and to appear for on-the-record testimony requested by FINRA in connection to its investigation of comments made on a Form U5 filing by his member firm.
In April 2024, Truist Investment Services terminated Murphy’s registration with the firm, citing allegations of code of conduct violations involving the creation of inaccurate consolidated statements, improper use of off channel communications, and attempting to personally pay past due fees for a client’s safe deposit box.

A fourth complaint alleges that Truist failed in numerous ways to actually perform its duties as administrator and trustee, causing significant harm to estate in the form of diminished asset values, adverse tax consequences, and lost investment opportunities. A fifth investor complaint alleges that the representative falsified documents, overstated values and misappropriated funds.
Murphy was permanently barred by FINRA in April 2024 after findings that he refused to provide documents and information and to appear for on-the-record testimony requested by FINRA. The regulator was investigating the Uniform Termination Notice for Securities Industry Registration (Form U5) filed by Truist, stating that it had discharged Murphy for “code of conduct violations involving the creation of inaccurate consolidated statements, improper use of off channel communications, and attempting to personally pay past due fees for a client’s safe deposit box.”
