Arizona Corporation Commission Orders Former LPL Financial Broker Lisa Boisselle to Pay $1.4 Million in Restitution Over Crypto Investment Fraud
According to the Arizona Corporation Commission, Boisselle served as President, Owner, and Chief Compliance Officer of LABI Investments LLC, doing business as Wealthwise, which held an investment advisory license until February 2022. Boisselle allegedly solicited $1,398,900 from at least 16 investors between November 2021 and April 2023 for investments in two cryptocurrency-related programs, NovaTech and HyperFund (also known as HyperVerse).
The Arizona Corporation Commission found that Boisselle represented to some investors that their investments were safe, secure, accessible for withdrawal at any time, and expected to grow over time. Regulators further found that by August 2022, domestic and foreign regulators had issued warnings and initiated legal actions involving NovaTech, and that Boisselle failed to disclose these developments to investors she continued to solicit.
The Commission ordered Boisselle and Wealthwise to permanently cease and desist from violating the Arizona Securities Act and Investment Management Act. Boisselle and Wealthwise did not request a hearing or file an answer in response to the enforcement action, and the order became final.
According to FINRA BrokerCheck, Boisselle was registered with LPL Financial in Scottsdale, Arizona from 2018 through 2022. Arizona regulators have allegedly linked Boisselle to the sale of NovaTech and HyperFund, which have been the subject of enforcement actions by securities regulators.
