According to FINRA BrokerCheck, Gustave Schmidt, a registered representative of Investment Network Inc., is under investigation by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”) following allegations that he recommended that 10 of his customers make purchases of interests in pre-initial public offering companies through various private placement offerings, with a total principal value of $437,100.
FINRA’s Department of Enforcement found that Schmidt made material omissions regarding the compensation that he and his member firm would receive in connection with these recommendations and engaged in a course of conduct that deceived investors.

Financial advisor Gustave Schmidt, of Investment Network Inc., is currently under investigation by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (“FINRA”). FINRA’s Department of Enforcement found that Schmidt received at least $19,888.05 in undisclosed compensation. The complaint also alleges that Schmidt willfully violated Exchange Act Rule 15l-1(a)(1) (Reg BI) failing to fully and fairly disclose in writing material facts relating to conflicts of interest and failed to conduct a reasonable investigation, or due diligence, to understand the offerings and reach a reasonable conclusion that they were in the best interests of at least some investors.
FINRA’s Department of Enforcement recommended that disciplinary action be brought against Schmidt. The regulator requested that the Panel make findings of fact and conclusions of law that Schmidt committed the violations charged and alleged, and order that one or more of the sanctions provided under FINRA Rule 8310(a) be imposed, including that Respondent be required to disgorge fully any and all ill-gotten gains and/or make full and complete restitution, together with interest. Schmidt is currently registered as a broker with Investment Network, Inc. in Smithtown, NY.
